Comenius University Exam: The Booklets and a Study Plan

In short. Every question in the Comenius exam comes from two booklets that the faculty sells. There is one for biology and one for chemistry, with 500 questions each. The exam takes 200 of them, so split the 1,000 questions over the weeks you have. Learn why each answer is right, then train the pace of 54 seconds a question.

This guide covers the English programme at the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in Bratislava.

Is there a free PDF of the Comenius exam questions?

Not from the faculty: it sells the English PDF of the booklets for EUR 31.98 (September 2026). The faculty also says it takes no responsibility for questions from other sources. So study from the current booklets, bought from the faculty.

• English PDF: EUR 31.98. You order it on the faculty's online form and pay by bank transfer.
• Printed copy: EUR 33.60 at the faculty bookshop, Sasinkova 4, Bratislava. The faculty posts it within Slovakia only.

Just bought the two booklets and feel lost? That is normal, because a thousand questions is a lot. Our plan below turns them into a fixed number a day.

What changes between the booklet and the exam

• In the booklet, each question has 8 possible answers, and the answers are at the back.
• In the exam, each question shows only 4 options, a to d, and one of them is correct.
• The faculty does not say which 4 options you will see. So a place in the key does not carry over to the exam.
• Learn why each statement is true or false, not where it sits in the key.

The key at the back gives the right answers but does not explain them. That is where most of your study time goes.

How the exam is scored now

• A right answer gets points, but the faculty has not said how many.
• A wrong answer scores 0, and marking two answers also scores 0.
• There are no minus points any more: the faculty changed this rule.

So never leave a question blank: a wrong answer costs you nothing. The faculty has not published a maximum score or a pass mark.

Our study plan: questions a day

Study 6 days a week, and use the 7th day to review your mistakes. Then find your row:

The questions a day are our own sum: 1,000 questions over 6 study days a week, rounded up. The times are our estimate of about 3 minutes a question. That covers answering, checking the key and saying why. Your own time may be shorter or longer, so time your first week.

A sample week on the 8-week plan

Got a question wrong twice? Then the topic is the problem, not the question. Read that topic in your school textbook before the next review day.

How to work through one day

1. Answer the day's questions first, with the key covered.
2. Check your answers with the key.
3. For each answer, say why it is true or false, and use your textbook when you are not sure.
4. Write down the number of every question you got wrong.
5. On review day, redo only those numbers.

Mix the two booklets every day, so that neither booklet is left for the last week.

Train the pace: 54 seconds a question

The faculty gives 180 minutes for 200 questions, so 54 seconds a question on average. It does not say whether biology and chemistry are timed separately. These checkpoints are our suggestion, not the faculty's:

From your second week, time one block a week, starting with 50 questions in 45 minutes. Before the exam, sit all 200 in one go, in 180 minutes.

Exam-day rules

In person, in Bratislava:

• You may use a scientific calculator, blank paper and a black pen.
• You may leave the room once, for up to 10 minutes.

Online: SCIO runs the faculty's online exam (March and June in 2026). Its rules for this faculty are on its own page, so read them before you register.

What our practice adds

Why new questions help with a booklet-only exam: the exam asks only booklet questions, so the booklets come first. Our new questions test the same facts in new words, with the reason behind every answer. We never copy the booklet questions, so you still need your own booklets.

Choose your exam date with care

You register for one exam date only.

• 2026 exam dates: March (online), June (online) and August (online or in person). The August date was 6 August for General Medicine.
• One try a year: you can register only once per programme each academic year.
• Outside the EU? The faculty says to register for March or June only (2026 rules), because the visa takes time.
• August 2026 registration ran from 4 June to 23 July, and in-person registration closed on 16 July. Documents were due by 23 July.
• Aiming for March or June 2027? The 2027 registration dates are not published yet. Ask the faculty's Study Department when March registration opens.
• Results: in 2026, the faculty said they come within 30 days of the exam. Enrolment was on 14 September 2026.
