Comenius and SZU Application Deadlines 2027

In short. Neither school has published its 2027 deadlines yet (checked 11 October 2026). In 2026, SZU had one deadline: 31 May. Comenius had three exam dates, each with its own registration deadline: 26 February, 12 May and 23 July. At Comenius you can register only once a year, so choose your date with care. Both schools published their 2026/27 rules in November and December 2025, so expect the new rules from November 2026.

This page covers the English General Medicine programmes in Bratislava: Comenius University's Faculty of Medicine, and the Slovak Medical University (SZU). The Slovak-language programmes have other dates.

When will the 2027 deadlines come out?

Every 2027 date on this page is our expectation from past years. None is published yet.

• Comenius: the dates are in the faculty's admission rules for its English programmes. The faculty's Academic Senate approved them in November in each of the last two years (5 November 2024 and 27 November 2025). By 5 December 2025, the 2026 dates were on the faculty's English page.
• SZU: its councils approved the 2026/27 rules in November 2025. The English document followed in December 2025. So expect the 2027/28 document between late November 2026 and January 2027.

The 2026 calendar

Each exam date had its own registration window. The documents and the EUR 99 fee were due on the day registration closed.

These are the General Medicine dates. Dentistry sat one day later.

In 2025 there were two exams, both online. The March exam was on 25 March (register 1 January to 6 March). The August exam was on 13 August (register 27 March to 24 July).

What to expect for 2027

Official 2027 dates are not announced yet. Based on 2025 and 2026:

• March exam registration opened on 1 January in both years. Expect it to open in early January 2027.
• The March exam was on 25 March 2025 and 19 March 2026. Expect it in mid to late March 2027.
• The June exam was new in 2026, so one year is not enough to predict it.
• The August exam was on 13 August 2025 and 6 August 2026. Expect it in early to mid August, with registration closing in late July.
• The number of exams changed too: two in 2025, three in 2026.

The Comenius rules that matter more than the dates

• One registration a year. You can register only once per study programme each academic year. A bad exam means a year's wait for Comenius.
• Outside the EU? The faculty says to take the March or June exam only (2026 rules), because a visa can take several weeks. It recommends March.
• Everything by the deadline of your date. Upload all your documents in the e-application by the registration deadline of your exam date. If you do not, you are not registered for the exam.
• The three uploads (2026): a passport scan (EU citizens may use an ID card), proof that you paid the EUR 99 fee, and your school diploma. No diploma yet? Upload an official letter from your school.
• Need another date? The faculty says a move is not possible unless you tell it at least one day before the exam. If you are ill, you may tell it on the exam day, with a doctor's confirmation. Its rules add that a health excuse cancels your application, and you may then apply for another date, if one is left. So tell the faculty early, and ask.
• Results: the faculty's page said within 30 days of the exam (2026). Its rules say they go on the faculty website under anonymous codes, as a rule within 7 working days.
• Enrolment: 14 September in 2026.
• A September date is not for you. On 4 September 2026 the faculty ran an exam only for its own students who had to apply again. New applicants could not take it.
• A 2027 date seen elsewhere? On 11 October 2026, the faculty's own page listed only the 2026 dates. Check any 2027 date with the faculty before you register.

SZU application deadline

One date for everything

SZU's English programme has one deadline. In 2026 it was 31 May. By then you must do all three:

1. Apply online in MAIS, SZU's application system.
2. Pay the EUR 70 fee, by bank transfer only.
3. Post the signed, printed form with every document.

We could not find SZU's English document for 2025/26, so the table skips 2025.

The SZU rules that matter more than the date

• Every document by the deadline. A document missing at the deadline means you do not meet the conditions (2026/27 rules).
• Pay first. The payment proof is part of a complete application, so it goes in your envelope.
• Posted or arrived? SZU's document does not say if your form must arrive by the deadline, or only be posted by then. So post early, and ask SZU.
• Still at school? Hand in your school-leaving certificate, with its Slovak translation, on exam day at the latest.
• Your invitation comes at least 28 days before the exam (SZU's general rules). For the 1 July 2026 exam, that meant by 3 June.
• One exam date. The 2026/27 document named one date. SZU's general rules let the dean give you another date if you ask in writing. Examples: an illness confirmed by a doctor, or an entrance exam at another faculty or university (attach its invitation).
• Visas. SZU's document says nothing about visas. If you need one, ask SZU before you rely on a July exam.

Applying to both: how the dates fit

SZU and Comenius are separate universities, so you send two applications. In 2026 their exams were on separate days: SZU on 1 July, Comenius on 19 March, 2 June or 6 August.

• A March Comenius result came before SZU's deadline. The exam was on 19 March 2026, and results come within 30 days.
• A June or August result came after it. SZU's deadline was 31 May.
• So apply to SZU by its deadline, whatever your Comenius date, if you want SZU as a second chance.
• Outside the EU? Take Comenius in March or June, and ask SZU about a visa for its July exam.
